With many encounters with successful people through various media i.e., television, print and radio broadcast etc, I have come to the conclusion that there are a few techniques they apply which sets them apart from the pack. As the saying goes, “not all fingers are equal” which is very true but when they are bent, they are almost the same!
We sometimes bemoan people who we assume are successful but have you ever examined closer to find out what they do to achieve their success? This article aims at equipping you with information that you can arm yourself with as you embark on your journey to success.
If you do as successful people do scripture applied, you’ll have what they have. But firstly, you must realize and accept that God wants you to succeed all-round. Proverbs 10:22, Deuteronomy 8:18. You must lay the foundation that God establishes your wealth; He has empowered you to have a relationship with Him and you can thereby draw from His power to work for your success.3 John 2, 1 Timothy 6:17.
For you to be successful, you must know and apply God’s word in every situation in your life. Note: “A man’s value and self-worth is not based on what he has acquired but measured by his relationships with God, family, friends”.
HOW SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE OPERATE
1. They are choice driven; they live their lives making choices. They do not abandon their lives to fate or chance but by choice. Deut. 30:19. Be warned, your choices have consequences. You have the liberty to choose but also have to bear the consequences. However, the consequence of your decision is predetermined by God. John 10:10. You have the right to choose whatever decision you like pertaining to your quest for success. Note: Successful people are principled-driven and not emotional-driven. Josh.24:15, Heb. 11:24-25.
2. They see failure differently; some people have a fear of failure hence, fear to launch out. However, successful people have no fear of failure i.e., failure does not quench their winning/competitive edge. Note: the average person experiences or has three (3) ideas that can make him a millionaire in a year. Prov. 24:16. Successful people learn from their failures and try to change course of action to make a success out of that venture. Micah 7:8.
ADVANTAGES OF FAILURE
a. Failure educates you
b. Failure helps you discover your creativity and hidden talents
c. Failure makes you less judgmental of people. If you have been there, you will understand what someone else is going through.
d. Failure helps you discover your skills and develop them.
3. Successful people take responsibility for their actions; they do not live a life of excuse. Gen. 3:13. Why are you not becoming as successful as you ought to be? What is your excuse? Get rid of your excuses and do not live in denial or the Nile!
4. Successful people enjoy their work; this does not mean alcoholism, extreme or obsessive embrace of your work to the detriment of your love ones, but enjoying what you do. Love your work and be the best in your industry not restricted only to you immediate organization. Ecc.5:18.
5. They build and maintain relationships; how many people in your life can assist with your issues? Redefine your relationships. Do not carry excess baggage. Having mentors is important. Relationships are like ladders; they take you up and can also bring you down. Therefore, keep relationships with mentors, peers and contemporaries and those who look up to you. It keeps you humble. 1 John 4 :20-21. Successful people are committed people in all they engage in whether it be relationships, family, marriage, work etc. Job.1:8.
6. Successful people invest in themselves. You are your highest investment. A mobile walking/working investment. In your problem, how much information and knowledge have you impacted on yourself in that area?

"Faith to change your world"
We were just in time for the start of the 'Word' on Sunday as the second service begun. My fiance and I walked in briskly to the seats pointed out to us by an usher. In a few moments, praise and worship was over and then came offering time. We were both eager to hear the word from our pastor-an anointed man of God; for we knew in our hearts, the word was meant for us. The word was just what we needed to usher ourselves into the new month of August. This is a time for careful planning and total submission to God as we are both looking forward to getting married in a few months time. Also, we were facing challenges in our day to day lives which required us to draw even closer to God.
The 'word' was from the series-TRANSFORM which had been on-going for 3 weeks. "Faith to change your world"is a reminder of who we are on earth, our purpose and the ability to draw power from God to change every situation we find ourselves including our world.
From the book of Romans 1:16-17, Pastor Chris **** defined FAITH as a spiritual principle that taps into God's creative power to change our situation, circumstances or conditions in the natural realm where we have authority. Many of us have lost faith in God and ourselves because of the guilt of sin. As believers, we are justified by our faith in God because Christ died for our sins; declaring us to be righteous, ..."the just shall live by faith...". However, we must not take knowledge of this for granted!
As we are on earth, we are bound to encounter situations which may alter our focus and the purpose God has for us. But with faith, we can change these situations. A very common example which many people who drive can relate to is this, have you ever driven to a supermarket and after shopping, you load your stuff in the car, put your key in the ignition and start the engine? How come you believed the car would start? Did you think for a split second what if the car wouldn't start? There a over a million instances to give as well as personal experiences to test your faith.
Whenever we are faced with a situation-no matter how bad it may seem, we need to look at it from God's perspective. In other words, we need to exercise our faith in Christ (saved from the penalty of sin and declared righteous) and speak to that situation, believing wholly on the word of God concerning you and your life. Consequently, tapping into God's supernatural power will surely come to bear in that natural situation.

WHY DO WE NEED FAITH?
- Faith is important because it pleases God. ..."for without faith, it is impossible to please God". Before you come to God, believe that He is your answer. He is whatever you want Him to be.Hebrews 11:6
- Faith is important because then, the promises of God are received. Galatians 3:13-14. We cannot access or experience all the promises without faith.
- Faith is required when selecting a mentor. Hebrews 6:12. There is a huge difference between a mentor and a tormentor.
Naturally in the scheme of events (our day-to-day life), there is the seen realm and the unseen realm. The seen realm are the situations we encounter with canal eyes-in the natural world while the unseen realm is viewing our situation with our spiritual eyes. Obviously, the unseen realm is bigger and stronger that the seen realm. It is basically, the natural and supernatural world. Hebrews 11:1-40, 1 John 5:4, Colossians 1:16 and 2 Kings 6:14-18.
As it is a fear based world that we live in, many of us are overwhelmed by circumstances that we lose our faith to make a change. We succumb to the 'Status Quo' and are too afraid to be that change the world is looking for. Satan manipulates the circumstances in the seen world as we are well aware that he has come to stay but we must not allow him manipulate us. We are fully armed and equipped to conquer him if we just believe in our faith. The devil does not come to you because of you, you are not that important. It is because of the assignment God has sent you to fulfill here on earth that makes the devil come after you. So next time when you are faced with challenges, look at it with faith, believe in God for that solution and you will emerge victorious.
Revelation is how God sees a situation; His perspective.
One of the many ways for revelation to come is prayer. By praying, you spend quality time with God, seeking Him diligently and He will reveal Himself to you. Habakkuk 2:1-4.
At the end of service, we were blessed. It gave us more insight of how important faith is and how it is relevant in our communication with God and addressing our situations. I do not know about you or that situation you are going through but I want to assure you that your case is not hopeless. There is nothing new or nothing that can surprise God. If you are in a position to make a change, be that change! Never worry about the laws set by the world. Do not be conformed to the things of this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind... Break out and do extraordinary things in that community you are in. Lead by example.
If you are going through some crisis, it is your victory that impacts on the lives of spectators. So also, continue to put your faith in God and He will surely reveal Himself to you.

- I was born in Mexico city a little over two decades ago while my father served as Nigerian Ambassador to Mexico and Belize. I come from a family of eight (8) and I am the fourth of seven children. Growing up in a relatively large household was fun in Nigeria. For some reason, I fell in love with fine arts- fashion & creative design and this influenced my decision to study Fine Arts and Design as a First degree. I immediately challenged myself to get a second degree in another field as I was forced to believe that I would not survive on arts alone. I bagged a Masters degree in International Management from a top 10 UK university in 2008. Now with dual experience, I teach fine arts as I wait to propel myself into advertising world as a multi-media executive. I love cuisine, traveling and teaching. But most importantly, I spend time as an Art Director in a multi-media printing press co-founded with my husband.
